Etterbeek
When you say Etterbeek, you think of fries at the Jourdanplein, the gigantic barracks, the station that is actually in Ixelles and of course the colourful mix of Europeans who live there. Etterbeek and its inhabitants are therefore extremely diverse. It is, to put it bluntly, the poorest of the rich municipalities and the richest of the poor municipalities.
As socialists of Etterbeek, we have given our municipality’s policies a human face over the past decades, ensuring that the problems of all Etterbeek residents are heard. Throughout the years, we have defended the importance of the local Dutch-speaking community life, from community center De Maalbeek and the Etterbeek library to the neighborhood house Chambéry.
Etterbeek must remain a municipality for all its residents. This means, among other things, enough schools and daycare centers for Dutch-speaking children, sufficient social housing for those in need, and affordable housing so that people are not forced to co-house or move away.
As Vooruit Etterbeek, we want to shake up Etterbeek. We dare to dream of a vibrant Etterbeek, which is more than just the place where we live.
